We are really enjoying the hot weather and there’s no doubt that there are more Figgies out and about with their shiny new hoods down and enjoying the sunshine! Unfortunately there’s also been a spate of significant engine failures. Last month, Steve called us from Altringham in Cheshire. He had been driving at reasonable speed on a dual carriageway when his Figgy engine “just let go and went bang!” Fortunately, he was okay and was able to pull over into a layby nearly. The AA came and took him home and the next morning he telephoned us. Our Figgy transporter covers the whole of the UK so a quick trip to Cheshire brought Steve’s Figgy to our Oxfordshire workshops. Steve’s Figgy required a complete engine rebuild and our team at The Figaro Shop are one of the only places in the UK who are able to do this proficiently. The biggest issue is that many of the engine parts are no longer manufactured. Not only do we scour the land, our close partners, and Nissan in Japan for spare parts but we also commission engine firms to build specific components for our Figgy engines. Apart from the engine problem, Steve’s Figgy was in good condition and, as he was also planning a new perforated ivory leather interior as well, he was able to take advantage of his unplanned trip to Oxfordshire.
