The NIssan Figaro Shop

BIG Sound, Little Figgy!

Usually I am a fan of the all original radio equipment in the Figaros but I enjoyed seeing the development of the system we helped build for Janice. It looked very much in keeping once fitted.

Janice has a stunning low mileage lapis grey Figaro, it’s got some other really nice custom touches so the radio fits in with the theme and sets the car off well.

We used a fibreglass shell which was designed to hold a standard car radio in the correct position under the Figaro dashboard. We modified the fibreglass shell to accept the double din radio (twice the size of a standard unit), then we repainted the shell to look in keeping with the rest of the interior. Janice brought the Pioneer head unit to us with an amplifier to match, we also fitted new speakers in the doors and modified the rear quarter panels to accept speakers in the rear. We colour coded the speaker grills in the same colour as the fronts although their design is more modern.

One of the advantages of using this type of unit are the added features. This model has satnav on top of the DAB and touch screen. It can also run ‘apps’ and link straight to a smartphone, you can even watch movies on it! It also really increases ease of use and makes controls much faster and more simple.

Although the original Clarion units are very pretty the screens are quite small and they only have so many buttons to control the units so they reach a level where they can’t do a great deal more.

Restomod car builds are something which has swept through all areas of the classic car market, meaning restoration with modern features I can really understand why this type of modification is so popular. Janice has a lovely car which has features that are unique to her and make using the car more enjoyable.
