In this month’s case study, we are delighted to help out an individual who has just bought a new Figgy.
Sarah from Kent rang us as she has just purchased her Figaro from a private seller. Like most purchasers, Sarah does not have years of training and experience in engineering and had to make a personal decision on the purchase of this vehicle. Fortunately, she then decided to bring the car to us at The Figaro Shop.
As part of our free Health Check, we look firstly to check that the car was mechanically safe, rust free and a “good buy”. We’re really glad she brought it to us, because although it was safe to drive, there were a number of components that had reached the end of their useful life.
Arguably, she could have paid less for the car, and had we been with her at the time of sale, we would have been able to point out that there was work that needed doing – especially on the suspension and brakes.
However, if you take the longer term view, she liked the car and, once we had repaired and replaced the worn components, she now has a really solid Figgy that she can enjoy for at least ten years!
Unlike most cars, Figgys in good condition have been increasing in value over the years. Although she may have overpaid initially, as she also invested in some cosmetic changes, she now has a beautifully restored Figaro that she can really enjoy today and which represents a solid investment for the future.
