Sports celebrities are not immediately recognised for their cultural tastes. Speed, power and a throaty rev are usually the order of the day, but just occasionally someone comes along with a little more taste.
FC Barcelona and Belgian footballer Thomas Vermaelen is a renowned Figgy lover, so much so that when he first signed his contract with the Gunners, Arsenal skipper Robin Van Persie took to Twitter to urge him to “get rid of the Figaro and buy a deeeeeecent car!”

Japanese singer Mami Ayukawa purchased a Figaro new in 1991, and was still driving it as of 2013. Figgy’s Tokyo roots run deep.
Retro Royal
Bringing the Figaro home for Britain is Princess Eugenie, who received national coverage with the car when she passed her driving test on her first attempt in 2009. The Figaro in question was reportedly a £8,000 convertible, proving that even the younger generation of Royals still have what it takes when it comes to classic taste.
