The Nissan Figaro is equipped with a 3 speed automatic transmission, which when correctly maintained, offers a smooth and relatively seamless gear change ensuring a comfortable and easy driving experience.

Automatic Transmission Brake Bands are flexible steel plates lined with organic (cellulose) or semi-metallic friction material. The lining absorbs transmission fluid to aid in heat dissipation. As the band tightens around the drum inside the transmission, the fluid is squeezed out into grooves cut into the band’s surface. The band brings the drum to a stop and holds it there. Over time, these bands wear causing transmission issues, slipping and gear selection issues. Automatic transmissions are very complex units and consist of many rotating parts which all have to work together to achieve smooth and seamless gear shifting. One of the most common issues with an automatic transmission band wearing is the feeling of jerking when the transmission is shifting gears.
