The Nissan Figaro employs the use of a mechanical speedometer driven by a cable from the gearbox output to the speedometer unit itself. The speedometer drive gear is designed to output a rotational drive from the gearbox via a cog system to attach a speedometer cable to feed the speedometer gauge inside the vehicles’ cabin. Over time, the plastic drive cog and internal bearing of the drive gear can wear and fail causing the speedometer cable to not spin which in turn will not allow the display to operate within the interior of the vehicle.
