The Nissan Figaro, despite its retro appearance,  is equipped with a turbocharged, 4 cylinder, fuel injected MA10ET engine which is electronically controlled using an ECU (Electronic Control Unit or Engine Control Unit).

The ECU is a small computer specifically designed to monitor engine parameters many times a second and outputs commands to sensors, modules, actuators and coils to allow the engine to run at its most efficient.

Due to the vehicles’ age, the ECU, like all electronic parts, is extremely outdated, susceptible to faults, has a very rudimentary diagnostic system and is very basic in functionality. Here at The Figaro Shop, we have been working hard in the background to develop a solution for the aging system, a solution for the lack of available and expensive replacement parts such as the Air Flow Meter and Cold Start Idle Valve and to find a way to bring more power, reliability and efficiency to the Figaro platform.

We are now proud to be able to offer our Standalone ECU Upgrade Conversion Kit – A complete ECU modernisation package.

Transform the performance, reliability, and drivability of your Nissan Figaro with this fully standalone ECU conversion kit. Developed specifically for the Figaro, this comprehensive package replaces the ageing factory engine management system with a modern, high-precision ECU and fully updated electronic components. The result is smoother running, improved throttle response, better cold starts, enhanced tuning potential, and long-term reliability. During testing on our test vehicle, we documented a 10hp increase with no extra turbo pressure and far better fuel efficiency than the original ECU. Truly a game changer!

This kit is designed to fit seamlessly in the original ECU location in the passenger footwell using a custom 3D-printed adapter plate. All essential block-off plates, wiring, and hardware are included to remove outdated components such as the air flow meter, cold-start valve, ECCS system, and ancillary solenoids. During our testing, we have developed tuning maps for both Automatic and Manual Transmission converted Figaro’s. This means, should you have an original automatic vehicle and fit this system and then decide that you wish to convert to manual, all you need is a simple download to your ECU and it is then tuned for the manual application. Please choose the map you would like uploaded to your ECU in the options list. This kit also comes with an optional “power pipe” that deleted the large black resonator box above the distributor. This is replaced with a smooth transition pipe ensuring optimum air flow to the turbocharger. Please select if you would like this added to your package in the option list.
