Description
The cooling system of the Nissan Figaro is controlled by a thermostat. The thermostat is designed to open as a predetermined temperature to allow the flow of water around the entire engines’ cooling system to regulate and maintain the perfect operating temperature of the engine itself and is located within the main thermostat housing on the side of the engine.
The thermostats can fail over time in 2 different ways. Firstly they can remain shut meaning that once the normal opening temperature has been reached, the thermostat remains closed instead of opening meaning that the flow of water is not promoted. This can cause very quick overheating and potential damage to the engine. Secondly, the opposite can occur and the thermostat does not close. The engine will warm up like normal when stationary but will cool down far too quickly when driving. The engine will not remain at its most efficient temperature and this can cause overfuelling issues and well as very low mpg. There are many different temperature thermostats available but we do not recommend anything over 82o for the turbocharged engine of the Nissan Figaro as it is designed to operate cooler than most engines. This is a lower and more recommended 80o item that meets and exceeds the oem quality for a perfect fit and reliable operation of the cooling system.
Benefits include:
- Lower 80o opening
- Meets oem quality
- Runs cooler
