How to Engine Bay Heat Shield

Share:

As some of you may know, last month we brought you another brand new product; our reflective under bonnet heat shield!

Since recording our How To Guide (scroll down for full video) of Maz showing how to install the shield, we decided to make a quick, all important improvement to the fastenings. We wanted to ensure you guys had the complete instructions for the new, super secure clip installation, so here you go…

The front-mounted turbocharger of a Nissan Figaro generates a lot of heat. Due to its position in the engine bay this heat radiates very close to the under skeleton of the front opening bonnet/hood and can cause damage to the paintwork. To slow/stop paint damage occurring, Nissan designed a reflective under-hood/bonnet heat shield situated just above the turbocharger to deflect heat away from the bonnet. Unfortunately, but predictably, over the last 30 years these reflective mats have perished, fallen off or no longer perform as they should. The thin aluminium foiled unit has not stood the test of time and not only lacks the same reflective performance, but looks unsightly.

We have been asked so many times for a solution for the under hood/bonnet heat shield and we are now proud to be able to supply this brand new, modern, hi-tech solution. This UK-manufactured heat shield is an innovative thermal and acoustic insulator made of mechanically embossed aluminium, foil bonded to a fibreglass backing using a non-flammable adhesive. This allows for a thicker product manufactured using modern technologies that will reflect more heat, insulate sound better and allow it to be shaped to suit.

The panel comes complete with a pack of 10 clips ready to retain the panel to the underside of the bonnet/hood (9 clips are needed and 1 is a spare). The panel is manufactured as a flat panel and can be easily bent as it is being installed for a perfect fit in a matter of minutes using basic DIY tools.
