Nissan Figaro ECCS / IAA Valve – USED

Description

The Nissan Figaro is equipped with a 987cc fuel injected turbocharged MA10ET engine which is perfectly suited to the vehicle. Pressurised air from the turbocharger is forced into the engine through the throttle body, via the inlet manifolds to allow the air to mix with fuel which in turn, with ignition from the spark plugs, ignites this mix in the combustion chamber causing the engine to run.

The engine is controlled by an ECU (Engine Control Unit) which ensures it is running to its most efficient ability within predetermined parameters. One of these parameters is the ability for the ECU to control the idle in different scenarios when load is placed on the engine such as when using the A/C systems, turning the steering when stationary, electrical load such as headlights, rear demister etc.

The IAA or more commonly known and referred to as the ECCS valve, is designed to give the user/technician a degree of variation to adjust the idle for each of these load variations. The valve is controlled by 3 solenoids. 2 on the valve and 1 on the intake manifold. There are 3 adjusting ports allowing the user to adjust the idle when in each of these different load scenarios to achieve a stable idle of 750rpm – 900rpm so the engine does not struggle or stall. There are 3 adjusting ports on the valve. Looking from the drivers side (right hand side):

FAR LEFT = A/C ON Adjustment
MIDDLE = AUX LOAD Adjustment (power steering, lighting, heavy electrical)
FAR RIGHT = OFF LOAD Adjustment (when car is in Park (P) or Neutral (N) with no other loads 

The ports in the valve can get clogged, become porous or run out of adjustment causing the threads to become damaged and seals to disintegrate.
