Nissan Figaro Fuel Pressure Regulator – USED

Description

The Nissan Figaro is equipped with a 4 cylinder, turbocharged and fuel injected MA10ET powerplant designed specifically for the chassis. The platform uses 4 ECU controlled, sequentially fired injectors to inject highly atomised fuel into the combustion chamber for efficient mixing of the fuel and air to gain the best and most effective combustion of fuel. The injectors are pressure controlled by a rising rate fuel pressure regulator as part of a “return to tank” fuel supply system.

The fuel pump supplies fuel via the fuel filter. This filtered fuel then passes through the fuel rail supplying each of the 4 injectors with fuel and then onward to the fuel pressure regulator. The regulator then “regulates” the volume of fuel being returned back to the fuel tank for the fuel to repeat the journey continuously (until the tank is empty of fuel).

As the load placed on the engine rises (depressing the accelerator/gas pedal) the regulator allows more fuel for the injectors by restricting how much fuel passes through it on the way back to the fuel tank. Over time and especially on higher mileage vehicles or vehicles that have been stored for long periods of time, the fuel pressure regulators can fail and supply too much fuel to the injectors (seized regulator in the closed position) or in the open position where too much fuel is passing through it back to the tank which means not enough supply to the injectors.
