Nissan Figaro Rear Brake Cylinder

Description

The Nissan Figaro is equipped with brake discs and calipers to the front and brake drums and brake cylinders to the rear. The brake cyilinders, like the front brake calipers, are actuated using hydraulic pressure generated from the brake master cylinder and push the brake shoes into the inner casing of the drum to create friction in order to slow the vehicle down from speed in a controlled manner.

Failing rear brake cylinders are a common weak link of the Nissan Figaros’ braking system and can often be the cause of uneven brake balance and mot failures on inspection. They tend to leak or seize making the rear braking system inefficient and may cause the shoes to stick making a ‘bang’ when you release the parking brake. We always recommend to clean and inspect the drums if the cylinders have leaked brake fluid and change the rear shoes if there has been any chance of brake fluid contaminating the brake shoe friction material. The rear brake cylinders are not sided so will fit both sides easily.
