The Nissan Figaro is equipped with a hydraulic braking system with discs, pads and calipers to the front and drums, shoes and brake cylinders to the rear. The brake fluid is pushed under pressure from the brake master cylinder and distributed to each corner of the car using a combination of steel lines and flexible hoses to ensure fluid reaches all 4 corners of the vehicle for safe braking.

Over time, and as the Nissan Figaro is over 3o years old, the braking systems’ pipework can corrode meaning the brake fluid leaks from the system causing dangerous ineffective brakes. Brake fluid, by nature, is quite an aggressive liquid and can cause corrosion of the steel lines and coupled with the harsh environments the vehicles operate in with salted roads can cause the corrosion to perish the lines between the rear flexible rubber hoses and the rear brake cylinder. The brake link pipes are a crucial component in transferring the brake fluid through the flexible hoses to the brake cylinders and have been a common failure point. Up until now, these pipes would have had to be made locally using copper pipe which was labour intensive.
